I think what the quote is trying to say is
that you can feel a difference after what you’ve done whether is good or bad. You
can tell a difference and even if you try to deny it even if you ignore it
inside you will know the difference and can’t deny it that you know what you’ve
done wrong. If you do good your mortal meaning you could live and have no
worries. But if you do bad you are immortal meaning you can let it go it
follows you wherever you go and you worry that you need to go back and fix it
so you can live peacefully. But even if you do the memory that took you so long
can’t be erased.
