I think the first sentence of the quote means that if you
want to do something right and everyone is against it you should do it because
in the end you’re the only person that there for you. I think the second part
of the quote means that even if everyone is about to do something wrong and you
feel left out you shouldn’t do it because when you get in trouble you’re alone
your “group” leaves you behind as they run for their lives.
